Yahoo Movies Meghan Markle Left Off Royal Baby Announcement
On Monday, Kensington Palace released an official statement on Twitter announcing the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had welcomed a baby boy.
'Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs,' the statement said. 'The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.'
Then, the @KensingtonRoyal account followed up with another tweet reading: 'The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.'
There was one name missing. Meghan Markle, Prince Harry's bride-to-be, was left off the official announcement. But why?
According to Marlene Koenig, a British and European royalty expert, it wasn't a snub by royal officials at all, but rather due to the fact that Markle isn't an official royal.
'Meghan is not a member of the royal family yet, so she is not a relative at this time,' Koenig explains to BAZAAR.com. 'Meghan is Harry's fiancée, but is not yet Auntie Meghan.'

Even with Markle's upcoming nuptials to Prince Harry on May 19 (26 days and counting!) and her involved public presence during official visits with Prince Harry (she even attended a celebration for Queen Elizabeth's 92nd birthday), Kensington Palace left the former Suits actress out of the tweet.
'If the baby had been born after the wedding, Meghan would certainly have been included,' says Koenig. 'It is not a snub.'
However, considering Markle will soon be an aunt to the newborn prince, it's safe to assume she's part of the 'and members of both families' part of the palace's tweet, along with other high-profile figures like Carole and Michael Middleton, Kate's parents, and her siblings, Pippa and James.
Will and Kate's new baby is fifth in line to the throne following 4-year-old big brother, George (third in line), and 2-year-old big sister Princess Charlotte (fourth in line). And, according to the palace, the name of the baby boy will be announced in due course, however Albert and Arthur are top contenders.
