It’s the baby shower that has the whole world talking and now one of Meghan Markle’s closest friends has spilled all the insider details from the day.

Gayle King, who is Oprah Winfrey’s best friend, was at The Mark Hotel on Wednesday to celebrate the impending arrival of baby Sussex, with stars such as Serena Williams, Amal Clooney and Meghan’s best friend, Jessica Mulroney.

Speaking on CBS This Morning, Gayle said she’d ‘never seen anything like’ the baby shower, which cost around £330,000, according to the Daily Mail.

“They did flower decorations, they had flower arranging, they brought in somebody to explain how to arrange flowers,” Gayle said.

She went on to reveal that Meghan had actually organised for the flowers that they had arranged at the party to be sent to Repeat Roses, which recycles flowers by delivering them to patients in hospitals, homeless shelters and cancer treatment centres.

“I thought that was a very sweet thing, it just speaks to who she is, she’s very kind, she’s very generous and a really, really sweet person,” Gayle said.

“It was a very small, private affair and just a very special time for her.”

Meghan has since faced backlash after she flew on a private jet from New York back to London.

The 37-year-old former Suits actress boarded her pal Amal Clooney’s private plane, according to the Daily Mail, and flew into Farnborough Airport in Hampshire.

However, Friends of the Earth, a group working towards a sustainable and environmentally-future, are not pleased with the Duchess.

“Private air travel obviously comes with a huge carbon footprint. Perhaps for future trips the Duchess could consider less carbon intensive modes of travel. We invite her to set a good climate trend by flying less,” a spokesperson told the Daily Mail.
