The new Men in Black sequel is bringing back at least one familiar face from the original series.

Director F. Gary Gray's MIB is basically a spin-off of the previous films starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, set within a London-based offshoot of the Men in Black. So, why not bring back Agent O?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, that's exactly what Gray is planning by signing up Emma Thompson to reprise her role as Agent O, the head of the Men in Black organisation.

Thus far, Thompson is the only original cast member attached to return, having appeared in Men in Black 3. The new MIB team will be headed up by Thor: Ragnarok co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson.

The sequel is also set to feature Emma Thompson's Love Actually co-star Liam Neeson, Silicon Valley's Kumail Nanjiani, Rafe Spall and French dance duo Les Twins.

MIB has been described by Chris Hemsworth as a continuation of the mythology of the previous films, but taken to a much more global scale.

"We're basically trying to put a lot of humour into it like the previous ones," he said this past spring. "These are obviously some big big shoes to fill, so we're working our butts off on it to make something pretty epic and fun.

"They're trying to change up the locations, make it feel unique and different to the last ones as well. So I think you might even see some different countries, maybe. Some different cities than you've seen in the previous Men In Black movies."

MIB is slated to open on June 14, 2019 in US and UK cinemas.
