What better way to celebrate Christmas than in the company of that other guy in the red suit?
Yes, the cinema release of ‘Deadpool’ is now only a little over six weeks away, and as an extra seasonal gift we’ve been granted an extra sneak peek at the movie - which reminds us, once again, that this is not going to be your standard family friendly superhero movie.
Watch the trailer above - just not in the workplace, or in the company of minors.
So aside from the atypical flurry of swear words and bloodshed, this new trailer does give us a teensy bit more insight into what ‘Deadpool’ is all about.
We already knew the movie would see Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) undergo radical body-altering surgery to rid him of cancer, and this would subsequently see him become a deadly assassin.
However, we didn’t know he would be called on to use his new powers to rescue the love of his life (Morena Baccarin) from Ajax (Ed Skrein).
This trailer is also the first to really emphasise that Deadpool exists in the X-Men universe, with Reynolds mentioning the mutant super-team by name to Andre Tricoteux’s Collossus - who we hear speak for the first time here.
We also get a better look at both the character and powers of Deadpool’s young sidekick Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), facing off against Angel Dust (Gina Carano).
Premiering a third trailer on Christmas continues ‘Deadpool’s curious PR strategy, in which new reveals and announcements have been made on public holidays.
It was confirmed that ‘Deadpool’ would be rated R (meaning 15 or 18 in the UK - it still hasn’t received its rating from Britain’s BBFC) on April Fool’s Day.
Meanwhile, this past Halloween another viral photo and video showed Ryan Reynolds going trick-or-treating with a bunch of young kids dressed as the X-Men.
‘Deadpool’ opens on 10 February 2016.
