Madame Tussauds has give ‘overrated actress’ Meryl Streep’s waxwork a bit of a makeover ahead of this year’s Oscars.

But the results are… really rather creepy.

Now sporting what appears to be a cross between an evil grin and a look of slight confusion, Streep’s worrying new look was unveiled yesterday at the Hollywood branch of Tussauds.

Harper’s Bazaar has called the model ‘nothing short of terrifying’.

It came complete with a replica of the golden gown she wore for the 2012 Oscars, at which she won the Best Actress going for her turn as Margaret Thatcher in ‘The Iron Lady’.

She’s nominated this year too, for her role as socialite Florence Foster Jenkins, but may well lose out to Emma Stone for ‘La La Land’.

But it’s still something of a landmark – it’s her 20th Academy Award nomination – 16 times for Best Actress and four times for Best Supporting Actress.

She’s converted three of those, one for ‘The Iron Lady’, Best Supporting Actress for ‘Kramer vs. Kramer’ in 1979 and Best Actress for ‘Sophie’s Choice’ in 1982.
