Mia Farrow Criticised For Posting Lion Killer Walter Palmer's Address Online

Mia Farrow has been criticised for posting the address of Walter Palmer, the American dentist who shot safari favourite Cecil the Lion in Zimbabwe, online.

Farrow, long an advocate for animal rights, tweeted the Minnesota address – which was initially thought to be his home address, but later appeared to be his office – but later took it down.

Some have called for her to be banned from the social network.

“How would you like it, @MiaFarrow, if someone gave out @RonanFarrow’s address in hopes of causing him harm? Not cool, is it?” said one user.

“Wonder how she’d like it if people posted her home address?” said another.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Twitter said that Farrow may not have contravened the rules of the site.

“If information was previously posted or displayed elsewhere on the internet prior to being put on Twitter, it may not be a violation,” they told AP.

Game hunter Palmer says that he paid $50,000 (£32,000) for what he believed was a legal hunt of a lion, but has been pilloried after it emerged that the victim of the hunt was Cecil, a protected lion known around the world.

The men behind the expedition in Zimbabwe will appear in court next week to face poaching charges.

A spokesperson for Palmer told the Guardian: “As far as I understand, Walter believes that he might have shot that lion that has been referred to as Cecil.

“What he’ll tell you is that he had the proper legal permits and he had hired several professional guides, so he’s not denying that he may be the person who shot this lion. He is a big-game hunter; he hunts the world over.”

Meanwhile, Palmer has closed his dentist business and gone into hiding.

The condemned act has made news worldwide, with Jimmy Kimmel addressing it during his monologue on yesterday’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ show, almost breaking down in the process.
