Michael B Jordan On Fantastic Four: We Tried To Make The Best Movie Possible

‘Creed’ star Michael B Jordan has responded to the furore surrounding 2015′s ‘Fantastic Four’ which tanked at the box office after it was slammed by critics and publicly denounced by its director Josh Trank.

Talking to Yahoo Movies, the actor who played Johnny Storm called making the movie “an experience” saying that everyone involved had good intentions, but that things outside of their control didn’t fall into place.

“I love Marvel and I love that world, so it was definitely an experience,” he says in our interview above.

“It was a lot of CGI, a lot of green screen, and a lot of teamwork - for the most part - trying to make the best movie possible. At the end of the day, you have so many people going together to do the best job possible and there are so many other things that have to fall into place to make a movie successful.

“So, sometimes you do, and sometimes you don’t.”

‘Fantastic Four’ was Jordan’s second movie with Trank following 2012′s superhero sleeper hit ‘Chronicle’, but where their first effort was warmly received all round, their sophomore film was beset with problems from the start.

Rumours of on-set problems and extensive reshoots persisted throughout the production and just days before the film was released, Trank distanced himself from the finished product tweeting: “A year ago I had a fantastic version of this. And it would have received great reviews. You’ll probably never see it. That’s reality though.”

He quickly deleted the post though the damage was already done. The film took $168 million globally against a budget of $120 million making it a costly flop for 20th Century Fox.

A proposed sequel pencilled in for 2017 was quietly removed from release schedules, likely closing the door for Jordan to ever reprise the role.

‘Creed’, which also stars Sylvester Stallone, is in cinemas from today.
