Michael Barrymore has been forced to pull out of Dancing On Ice after breaking his wrist.

The 67-year-old TV presenter had been set to make his career comeback on the ITV skating show but revealed he has injured his left wrist in a fall during training.

Barrymore revealed: “Took a nasty fall on the ice last Friday during rehearsals and sadly broke my left wrist. Absolutely devastated to hear that I can’t go on back on the ice for a while.”

He added: “Really enjoyed every single moment of being part of the terrific show and working with all the incredibly talented people involved.”

The comedian and game show host will be replaced by former Blue Peter presenter Radzi Chinyanganya.

Chinyanganya said: "I am thrilled and privileged to be part of the Dancing On Ice 2020 cast. I am absolutely gutted for Michael, who is one of my all-time favourite TV presenters, and I wish him a speedy recovery.

“I've only got two weeks to get ready to ice skate in front of the nation so I'm looking forward to a Christmas and New Year filled with training on the ice!"

Barrymore’s career was left in tatters after the death of 31-year-old Stuart Lubbock, whose body was found in the swimming pool at Barrymore’s Essex home after a party in March 2001.

The TV presenter was arrested six years after Lubbock’s death on suspicion of rape and murder but released without charge.
