Michael Bay responds to Teenage Mutant Ninja fans’ outrage

Michael Bay says that fans need to take a breath, and chill

Michael Bay, the director and producer of the new 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' has released a statement via his official forum in response to a huge fan backlash over his intended overhaul of the story.

“Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.”

The forum itself makes for fascinating reading. One of Bay's most vocal supporters on there is proudly rocking a 'Pearl Harbor' avatar... enough said.

But regardless, the message seems clear. He is Michael Bay, and he knows what he is doing. After all, this is the man behind 'Transformers' and, erm, 'The Island'.

The original offending quotes revealed that Bay intended to reboot the 'Turtles' from their traditional mutant origins.

“These turtles are from an alien race, and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely lovable” Bay revealed at a Nickelodeon presentation.

Basically, the alien turtles are here to stay.
