However Cyrus found a way to connect with people without breaking social-distancing rules - by having “lots” of cyber sex.
In an interview for The Howard Stern Show, Cyrus, 28, admitted: "This time has been really interesting and challenging for any sort of dating or meeting people. I do a lot of FaceTime sex — it's the safest sex. I'm not getting Covid.
“I am definitely not going to be doing anything that's irresponsible for myself or for other people … it's just ridiculous for anybody that won't take the right precautions to keep each other safe.”
The singer - who is spending lockdown at her home in Malibu, California - has been open about her sex life in the past.
In 2015 she told Elle UK that she identified as pansexual, commenting: "I’m very open about it… I change my style every two weeks, let alone who I'm with. I don't relate to what people have made men and women into."
Cyrus was previously married to actor Liam Hemsworth after tying the knot in an intimate ceremony at their home in Franklin, Tennessee. They split less than a year later, with their divorce finalised in January 2020.
Since then the singer has dated Kaitlynn Carter as well as Cody Simpson for ten months, before they split last summer.
In a recent episode of Barstool Sports' Call Her Daddy podcast, Cyrus, 28, admitted she prefers the dynamic of being in a same-sex relationship.
She added: "Girls are way hotter… and the role that I was in made more sense because there's not going to be this weird thing that I pay for everything and whatever.
"Like if I'm going to be with a girl, I'm totally down to be with a boss bitch who's as successful, or more successful than me; that's cool, too."
