Update: Miley Cyrus has now confirmed her role in Black Mirror, telling Howard Stern that she is "really proud" of her work on the series.

She didn't reveal much, but did say that there are a "lot of different sides" to her character.

"There's a lot of dimension to it, and actually it was while the devastation of Malibu was happening, and it was a really weird learning experience for me because I was so far from home and the show is already really dark, and it's already kind of eerie when you're there the whole time," Cyrus told Stern.

"But I learned a lot about myself, and I think I was able to use that and put that into it."

Original: Miley Cyrus is rumoured to be appearing in an episode of Black Mirror's season 5.

According to Miley's older sister, Brandi Cyrus, the Wrecking Ball singer has recently filmed scenes for the dystopian series' new season while on her stay in Cape Town.

During an episode for Your Favourite Thing Podcast with Wells & Brandi, Miley's sibling confirmed that the two sisters stayed together while the popstar filmed an episode for Black Mirror's new season, wrote Metro.

Brandi has also revealed that Marc Menchaca, Ozark's Russ Langmore, was on set too, shooting an episode.

Rumours about Miley's appearance in the dystopian show, have also been discussed by a local hotel manager, wrote South African news site IOL.

"She's been spotted at the V&A Waterfront but it’s certain that fans will be trying to figure out where she’s most likely to turn up next. Will it be at Shimmy Beach Club? Perhaps in an express queue at the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway. Your guess is as good as mine," told the hotel manager IOL.

Anticipation for the show's return has been burning since its commission, but creators of the dystopian series keep all details of their episodes a closely-guarded secret.

Recently, Charlie Brooker was forced to silence fans' theories about the next episodes.

The upcoming Black Mirror's fifth season is yet to get a confirmed release date.

Black Mirror seasons 1-4 are available to watch on Netflix.
