Alex R. Hibbert’s declaration that he wants to spend some of his earnings on finding a cure for cancer would be wonderful to hear from any actor. But the fact that he’s just 12-years-old should immediately restore your faith in humanity.

Hibbert, who has risen to prominence over the last few months thanks to his performance in the Golden Globe winning ‘Moonlight’, made this declaration during his recent interview with HeyUGuys, admitting that becoming an actor was a distant dream profession behind being an NFL player or a scientist.

But even though acting has helped to settle down Hibbert, he explained that he still wants to use his earnings to help the world.

“What I wanted to do was either play football or be a scientist that cures cancer,” Hibbert remarked. “Football is out of the question now, but scientist-wise, I’m going to take most of my money … Wait, some of my money, and build a lab, and I’m going to take the best scientists to work on curing cancer and stuff like that.”

Hibbert is clearly driven to make himself a success, too, because he also admitted that he is working for his mother rather than fame, adding, “I’m doing this for her so she can retire. I don’t really care about the fame that much, I just wanna help my mom, and help other people that need help.”

At a time when the rest of the planet seems to be tearing itself apart, Alex R. Hibbert’s words might be the ultimate proof that it’s better to see the world through the eyes of a child. Now excuse me as I go and immediately call my mother and try to stop crying.
