More Hunger Games Movies In The Works?

It looks as though ‘Hunger Games’ star Josh Hutcherson may have let slip about plans to continue the franchise beyond ‘Mockingjay Part 2’.

During an interview with Conan O’Brien, the 22-year-old ‘Hunger Games’ star hinted that while ‘Mockingjay Part 2’ will conclude the series, there might yet be more to come.

Asked whether there are further movies in the works, he blurted out: “there is” before quickly covering his mouth. “I’m sorry,” he said. “I can’t say that. I don’t… we’ll see what happens.”

Judging by the glares he received from his co-stars, I get the feeling Josh wasn’t supposed to mention any of that. And while the internet soon exploded with rumours of ‘Hunger Games’ sequel, the studio quickly responded.

“An official source indicates there are ‘no plans’ for another Hunger Games movie at this time,” report the folks at /Film. But this wouldn’t be the first time that Lionsgate have shown a willingness to continue the franchise.

And who can blame them – ‘The Hunger Games’ series has amassed over $2 billion so far.

Either way, it looks as though ‘The Hunger Games’ still has plenty of surprises in store for its fans… as the impressive Comic Con panel unveiled some hints about the series’ big finale.

But what else did we find out?

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 gets a full trailer

That’s right folks – The Hunger Games Comic Con panel unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming finale, ‘Mockingjay Part 2’. And by all accounts, it was a rather impressive sight.

Unfortunately, the video was a Comic Con exclusive and remains unavailable to view online. But those who were lucky enough to see it have revealed that it’s an action-packed, explosive thrill ride… and it sounds as though ‘The Hunger Games’ is gearing up for a rather epic conclusion.

Featuring some huge battle scenes, explosions, dances and Jennifer Lawrence in the midst of it all, it sounds as though Katniss Everdean is full-on badass for this final instalment. But for our own glimpse of the video, we may have a bit of a wait.

And in the meantime, there’s this impressive clip as Katniss leads her army…

Gale Hawthorne has a lot more to do

Here’s some great new for Gale Hawthorne fans – it looks as though Liam Hemsworth is going to be joining in with all the action, giving him a lot more to do in ‘Mockingjay Part 2’.

“I’ve kind of been on the sidelines for a long time,” he admitted. “I’ve been watching the fight happen, and he’s finally in the mix and heavily a part of the uprising and military operations.”

He also reveals that Gale plays a crucial part in the military plans, teaming up with Beetee (played by Jeffrey Wright) to ambush and trap the enemy. A much more action-pack role then, and a fitting way to end his part of the saga.

Mockingjay Part 2 won’t be exactly like the book

Not exactly a huge surprise, but director Francis Lawrence admits that the final film in the saga won’t be exactly the same as the book. In particular, it seems that the epilogue may have seen some changes.

“There will be some differences,” Francis says. “But we always wanted to make the books - we made the books… It’s really, really emotional but I think you guys are going to be happy.”

Of course, the book’s epilogue reveals that twenty years later, Katniss and Peeta have two children… and with a sombre reflection on what had happened during the Hunger Games and the ensuing war, Katniss dreads the day her family finds out about her past.

Will any of this make it to the big screen? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2’ heads to cinemas on 20 November 2015.
