Twitter has revealed the most tweeted about movies of the year – and sadly, there are no prizes for which blockbuster came in first.

Avengers: Endgame, as well as being the highest-grossing movie of the year, hit the top spot, with Toy Story 4 coming in second place.

But Lucasfilm might be in for a shock, with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker only coming in at number nine.

Here's the top 10 in full:

1. Avengers: Endgame

2. Toy Story 4

3. Joker

4. Spider-Man: Far From Home

5. The Lion King

6. 天気の子 (Weathering With You)

7. Captain Marvel

8. IT: Chapter 2

9. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

10. Frozen II

Those unfamiliar with number six, that's Japanese manga Weathering With You, released over the summer to widespread critical acclaim.

Meanwhile, Tom Holland topped the most tweeted about actors chart for the year, followed by Chris Evans, Zendaya, Robert Downey Jr, the late Cameron Boyce, Keanu Reeves, Chris Hemsworth, Japanese actress and pop star Kanna Hashimoto, Jennifer Lopez and Mark Ruffalo, making up a strong Marvel presence.

The top TV shows were (in order) Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, The Simpsons, Spanish language Netflix crime series Le Casa De Papel, Grey's Anatomy, Love Island, Catfish, Family Guy, The Walking Dead and Narcos.
