16 Hollywood stars you should ask for a selfie with (or avoid) if you see them in real life

Tom Hanks
This kind of goes without saying but Tom Hanks is a lovely human being on and off the screen. He’s not only helped to return lost IDs but also refunded a couple the ticket money they paid to see Larry Crowne. He also started a budding friendship with a taxi driver in NYC, he fondly calls Mr. Ferrari, and through the driver’s riders invited him to see his Broadway show.

Chris Pratt
Last year, Chris told a magazine he would no longer take photos with fans but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t say hello. “I just don’t take pictures with people. Because that’s not about enjoying the moment; it’s about stealing the moment to brag about later. So, I say, ‘Would you settle for a handshake?’ And then they take the picture anyway.” So the lesson is take the handshake.

Lady Gaga
The pop star once bought pizza for her fans waiting for her outside her Montreal hotel and has been praised by random people who have met her too. One hotel bartender said she was courteous and nice when she ordered room service and an extra on American Horror Story said Gaga looked out for her when she nearly fell into a light.

Will Ferrell
At one point, Ferrell was named the worst celebrity signer by Autograph magazine who claimed, ““He mocks people, taunts and embarrasses them when they ask for autographs.” If that happened to me I’d probably write about it in my diary and laugh about it later.

Keanu Reeves
If you thought Tom Hanks was nice wait until you hear about Keanu. He used to buy crew members lunch on his movies in the ’90s, once drove a woman, who was broken down, 50 miles out of his way to his home and gives up his seats on public transport. What a dream.

Jared Leto
The Suicide Squad star seems to be cool with taking photos with fans. Just a few months ago several people posted photos with Leto while he was in enjoying some downtime in Dublin.

Andrew Garfield
The former Spider-Man would rather give you a hug than a selfie and told Shortlist that he spends “a lot of time convincing people they don’t want a photo with me.” If he can’t convince you he’ll remind you of an inconvenience it is; earlier this year he recorded a message for a guy whose mum accosted him to record a message: “Hi Ian, you have a very sweet mother who doesn’t mind crossing boundaries over lunch tables.”

Andre 3000
Lots of people who have served the Outkast star at restaurants or shops have praised him for being nice and polite but getting to share an Uber with him might be the coolest encounter. Andre accidentally ordered a Pool and ended up sharing it with a fan who it took to his studio with where he was meeting Kanye West. That’s pretty amazing.

Jennifer Lawrence
JLaw is not here for people who ambush her at dinner. The actress told Vanity Fair: “I get very protective of my space. If I’m eating dinner and somebody comes up and a flash goes off from someone’s iPhone camera, I am really rude to that person.” Fair enough.

Edward Norton
The Moonrise Kingdom star is not a fan of signing autographs or having his photo taken with fans or random people who just want to prove they’ve met him. He said while promoting Birdman that phones with cameras have made an “incredibly rude unconscious behaviour” and to be fair he does have a point.

Jeff Goldblum
There are so many lovely stories about people meeting the Jurassic Park star, spanning his entire film career. One of the best is from Reddit where a person explained how his friend was at the barber’s with the actor, who wanted to take selfies with his hairdresser and the other patrons, not on their phones, but on his own so he could save the memories of them, and obviously a great haircut.

Christian Bale
The actor’s ex-publicist Harrison Cheung said in his biography that he once made a group of girls cry by yelling at them because they asked for an autograph. Probably best to steer clear.

Mark Hamill
The Star Wars legend might not sign autographs at premieres (because he’s sick of seeing them on eBay) he’s still a nice star to meet in real life. While filming at Southend Pier he asked for security to remove barricades so he could meet and take pictures with fans who had gathered.

Samuel L. Jackson
If you want a photo with Sammy L. you better say please. After a DJ called him out on Twitter for not giving him a picture, Jackson explained the situation to his followers and pointed out the rudeness of his accuser.
- 15/16
Tom Hiddleston
Loki might be a bit of a dick but that’s not the same for Tom. The British actor’s politeness and chivalry is known the world over both in public and private. He holds doors open, takes pictures with fans and when a kid fake shoots web at him you can bet Tom will do it right back with a smile on his face.
