Brad Pitt and Lewis Hamilton to give fans 'most accurate racing film ever made'

Brad Pitt will get behind the wheel at this year's British Grand Prix for his upcoming Formula One movie.

The currently untitled film, which is being directed by Top Gun: Maverick's Joseph Kosinski, sees Pitt's veteran driver team up with a rookie to challenge the giants of racing.

Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is also onboard as script counsel, to "ensure it is the most accurate racing film ever made".

And it has now been confirmed that the production is scheduled to join the F1 race at Silverstone on 9 July, although Pitt won't be racing professional drivers.

Speaking at the F1 Accelerate Summit in Miami this week, director Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed Hamilton's participation and the cast – including Pitt – will be driving the super-fast cars for real.

They will be accompanied in the cockpits by "the smallest moveable 6k camera ever designed".

Hamilton said: "I don't know absolutely every single plan with all the things we'll be doing in the paddock, I'm more focused on making sure the script is where it needs to be.

"That's where all the time is currently, going through the script. We've got a really great and diverse cast.

"Joe's focus is to make us as embedded in this sport as possible. For me it's to make sure it's authentic, and that all of you and racing fans see its authenticity and say 'this is believable', and have a view of racing from a different perspective than you might see on TV.

"It's an amazing process and I'm really enjoying it."
