Catherine Zeta-Jones 'won’t apologise for money, fame or good looks'

Catherine Zeta-Jones has said that she’s ‘sick of being humble’ about her looks, her wealth and her status.

The Welsh-born actress, who is married to actor Michael Douglas, made her name on British TV before moving to Hollywood.

She’s since become an Oscar winner – best supporting actress for her role in Chicago – and amassed a multi-million dollar fortune.

She told the Daily Mirror: “One thing I’m not is humble any more. I’m sick of being humble. I really am. ‘So sorry I’m rich, so sorry I’m married to a movie star, so sorry I’m not so bad looking.’

“No sorrys. Enough. All that is important to me now is my work.

“That’s what I love and the rest of my life is a joy because I’ve got two beautiful kids and a healthy, happy husband.

“It’s all good, and I’m not going to be humble for that either.”

48-year-old Zeta-Jones, who was born in Swansea, married Douglas in 2000 and the couple have two children together.

She went on to say that both 17-year-old Dylan and 15-year-old Carys wish to go into showbusiness too.

“I have two kids who want to be actors and I am so proud. It’s not about fame for them. They’ve been brought up around famous people. They know what that is like,” she said.

“They want the craft because that’s what they love. And it gives me such pride that they get it. They understand that this is not a quick fix. They’re so good.

“I can’t wait for you all to see which way they’re going to go because they’re going to go somewhere, I’m telling you.”

She broke through as an actress playing Mariette in ITV’s adaptation of The Darling Buds of May in 1991, before going on to score movie roles in The Mask of Zorro, Entrapment and Traffic, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe.

She was last seen on screen in 2016’s big screen adaptation of Dad’s Army.
