When Disney bought up the Fox studio, some thought that the Mouse House’s family-friendly reputation could spell the end of filthy-mouthed mercenary Deadpool.

But thankfully, the matter was addressed at the very top, by Disney boss Bob Iger, who said that it would be happy to make a new Deadpool movie, 'as long as we let the audiences know what's coming'.

And coming it is.

And not only that, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has confirmed that the movie will be the first R-rated project to be nestled in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

He told Collider: “It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now.

“It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun.

“Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”

Screenwriting siblings Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux, of Bob's Burgers fame, are writing the movie, though it's likely that it won't commence filming until at least 2022.

Which would in turn mean that the movie wouldn't arrive until at the very least 2023, so there's some time to wait yet.

Discussing who else from the MCU might turn up in the movie, now Deadpool has been fully embraced, will make the time fly no doubt.

The first Deadpool movie arrived in 2016, and quickly became the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, making nearly $782 million at the box office.

Deadpool 2 then landed in 2018 - along with its PG-rated cut Once Upon A Deadpool - making $785 million in all.
