Did You Spot Inside Out’s Good Dinosaur Easter Egg?

It’s common knowledge amongst cinephiles that Pixar employees like to pass the time by sneaking references to future projects into their films.

Fans have been wondering if there was actually a reference to ‘The Good Dinosaur’ in ‘Inside Out’, and now they’ve got their confirmation, courtesy of producer Jonas Rivera who made this admission in a recent Q&A in Denmark to mark the release of the film.

According to Hypable, after being asked what to look out for in ‘Inside Out’, Rivera remarked, “If you look close, you might find somebody that you’ll see later in ‘The Good Dinosaur’. Keep your eyes open!”

But where precisely is this nod to Pixar’s upcoming flick? Well, back in May, just before ‘Inside Out’ was in cinemas, Rivera explained to Collider exactly where it’s located.

“In the scene where Mom and Riley are walking down the street and se says, ‘The food was better than the diner in Nebraska. What was your favourite part of the trip?’ And Riley says, ‘I think the dinosaur.’”

Rivera continued, “So they go back, we see the car smash into the dinosaur. She says, ‘Oh, good one Joy!’ That dinosaur may or may not be a cemented version of some of our characters in the next movie we’re doing.”

The character in question is actually Arlo, the lead character of ‘The Good Dinosaur’; which revolves around his quest to return to his family. It also has an alternate timeline where an asteroid didn’t hit Earth and dinosaurs never went extinct.

There were many other ‘Inside Out’ Easter Eggs that you might have missed. One included Colette from ‘Ratatouille,’ who features on the cover of a cooking magazine, while the number A113 sneaks in, and The Pizza Planet Truck even appears three times.

If you missed one, two, or even all of these ‘Inside Out’ Easter Eggs, then you’re just going to have to buy the film and re-watch it again and again when it is finally released on DVD and Blu-Ray. I have a feeling that because the film’s so majestic you were probably planning on doing that anyway though.

Meanwhile, ‘The Good Dinosaur’ will be released into UK cinemas on November 27, 2015.
