Disney's new 'Peter Pan' live-action remake casts Wendy and Peter

Next on the list of Disney classics to be remade in live-action style is Peter Pan, and the studio has just cast its Wendy and Peter.

Ever Anderson is set to play Wendy Darling, while Peter Pan will be played by Alexander Molony in the forthcoming Peter Pan & Wendy, according to Variety.

British actor Molony is the voice of Claude the dog in the animated series for Disney, and appeared as Charlie in the Sky One sitcom The Reluctant Landlord with comedian Romesh Ranganathan.

Anderson, meanwhile, is set to play the young Natasha Romanoff, Scarlett Johansson's character, in the forthcoming Black Widow movie.

She's also the daughter of Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich and director Paul W.S. Anderson.

Directing the movie is David Lowery, who has co-written the script, and who has also made the movies A Ghost Story and The Old Man & the Gun with Robert Redford.

He's also behind the hotly anticipated The Green Knight with Dev Patel, currently in post-production ahead of its May release.

The movie is based on the 1953 Disney version of J.M. Barrie's novel, about the boy who never grew up, who whisks off the Darling children to the world of Neverland.

Live-action versions of Barrie's movie have been made in the past, of course, including Steven Spielberg's Hook, with Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman, and Joe Wright's Pan in 2015.

The latter tanked at the box office, however, making just $128 million, despite a sturdy cast led by Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard.

This latest Disney remake has some high expectations – recent remakes like Aladdin and The Lion King have breached $1 billion at the box office.

However, Tim Burton's Dumbo was less successful, likely losing a huge sum for Disney thank to a lacklustre $353 million at the worldwide box office.
