Yahoo Movies BBC's 'His Dark Materials' gets a thrilling new trailer
The BBC has announced the arrival of the new trailer for His Dark Materials, which has been made with US network HBO. There is no confirmed air date as yet.

The new trailer reveals a dark and dangerous world, and one that feels very evocative of Phillip Pullman’s beloved books.
The drama, currently still listed as in post-production on IMDb.com, will star Luther’s Ruth Wilson and X-Men’s James McAvoy, as Mrs Coulter and Lord Asriel respectively. And there is another Marvel connection – Dafne Keen, known to many as the young mutant in Logan, is playing the story’s lead Lyra.

The magical tale follows the adventures of a young girl Lyra and the battles she must face in order to become an adult.
Phillip Pullman’s classic children’s trilogy (Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass) has had a rather rocky ride in the adaptation stakes. The last time the story made it onto the big screen was as The Golden Compass in 2007, with Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig in the lead roles.
Two more films were meant to follow, but the blockbuster suffered from patchy reviews (getting only 42 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes) and bad press, many believing this was due to the Catholic church disapproving of a storyline that cold be perceived to be anti-religious. Then, a year later New Line Cinema, which produced the movie, was merged with Warner Bros.

No wonder then that the fans are nervous that their beloved story may be mishandled. Still, messages on Twitter were cautiously optimistic.
One commenter @Shoequeeny said: “Please be good. Because then we get The Subtle Knife, right?? And I need a Will Parry on my screen.”
While another “I’m so excited about this I’ve waited so many years and now we have trailers and it’s HAPPENING.”
With @LanghamGeorge adding, “Please please please please please be better than the movie.”
His Dark Materials is due on UK screens later this year.
