First 'Zombieland: Double Tap' trailer reunites the cult classic's cast

You’d be forgiven for thinking 2009’s Zombieland was a one-and-done kinda film, after all, the careers of its core cast have all gone stratospheric in the decade since its release, but now the undead hunting crew are back for seconds in Zombieland: Double Tap.

Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin, and Emma Stone all reprise their roles in Double Tap (a reference to a zombie-shooting technique discussed in the original film) for a brand new adventure.

Stone particularly has enjoyed runaway success since the release of the comedy-horror, winning one Oscar from three nominations, but the filmmakers behind it have also gone on to achieve greatness too.

Director Ruben Fleischer’s star is on the rise thanks to the success of Venom, while writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick successfully launched the Deadpool franchise, and have written Michael Bay’s Netflix action film Six Underground.

Rosario Dawson, Luke Wilson, and Thomas Middleditch also star.

Here’s the synopsis for Zombieland: Double Tap: A decade after Zombieland became a hit film and a cult classic, the lead cast (Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin, and Emma Stone) have reunited with director Ruben Fleischer (Venom) and the original writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Deadpool) for Zombieland: Double Tap.

In the sequel, written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and Dave Callaham, through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, these four slayers must face off against the many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.

The first film famously had a Bill Murray cameo that remains one of the greatest cameos in cinema history. We can’t wait to see who they’ve lined up for a surprise appearance in the sequel.

Our money’s on Ryan Reynolds popping up at the very least.

Zombieland: Double Tap is in cinemas from 18 October.
