Nearly two months after it usually kicks off, awards season is finally upon us.

The Golden Globes normally take place in early January but having been delayed due to the global pandemic, the 78th annual ceremony will instead be held this Sunday (28 February).

If you’re hoping to follow the action from the UK then you’ll need some decent coffee and carefully-planned naps, as the main event will begin in the early hours of Monday morning, at around 1am GMT.

Here’s everything you need to know if you’re planning an all-nighter…

Who is presenting the Golden Globes 2021?

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will be presenting the awards for the fourth time but this year, things will look a little different.

Poehler will be completing her hosting duties in the Golden Globes' usual location, the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel in California, while Fey will present from the The Rainbow Room atop the Rockefeller Center in New York.

Organisers have still done their best to make sure one key element is (sort of) there: the red carpet.

When will the Golden Globes 2021 red carpet begin?

As always, E! will be broadcasting live from 11pm though it's a little unclear how this year's red carpet will work in 2021.

The channel is promising that veteran host Giuliana Rancic will be on location to interview Hollywood's biggest stars alongside a very special co-host, Queer Eye's Karamo Brown.

However, nominees are not expected to be attending in person and the audience at each location will primarily be made up of frontline and essential workers. However, award presenters — which include Awkwafina, Cynthia Erivo, Joaquin Phoenix, Kristen Wiig & Annie Mumolo and Renée Zellweger — are expected to appear at the live events in person.

Rancic's usual partner in crime, Ryan Seacrest, will not be joining her. After 14 years of fronting E!'s red carpet coverage, the presenter and producer stepped down from his role earlier this year.

If you'd rather tune in via your laptop, two hours of live pre-show coverage will also be on offer via the Golden Globes' official Facebook page.

What about the Golden Globes 2021 ceremony?

Unfortunately, this is where you’ll run into problems.

Over in the States, the main show will air live on NBC but despite the fact a whole host of Brits – including stars from The Crown and Normal People – are up for awards, the ceremony itself hasn’t actually been picked up by any UK channels.

If you’re determined to stay up anyway, the official Golden Globes Twitter account will be posting highlights and videos as the night unfolds.
