The next James Bond actor is a hotly-debated topic amongst film fans, with plenty of names being bandied around since before Daniel Craig's final outing in No Time to Die was even released.

Game of Thrones alumni Richard Madden has been one of the most mentioned names — and he's not doing anything to dispel those rumours.

The actor is appearing in a new Prime Video series called The Citadel, a spy thriller in which he plays a secret agent while Stanley Tucci plays his tech supplier.

The duo also joined forced to throw further 007 fuel onto the fire with a (quite awkward) recent Instagram video in which they sipped on martinis together.

The comments on Tucci's video are full of people claiming that not only would they like to see Madden as the next Bond, but that Tucci would make a good Q, or even an M.

"Hope that's shaken not stirred," one person wrote in the comments section. Another commented: "To the Gods of 007, this is a no brainer."

One person did note, however, that Madden did gag on his martini, which isn't very Bond behaviour (they could probably work around that with CGI or something, though).

Of course, there's also the likelihood that Madden already knows that he's not going to be the next Bond, and he's just playing with us all.

As far as the James Bond casting process is progressing, franchise overseer Barbara Broccoli admitted in February that it's still early days, with no script in place yet. It's also been stated that the producers are looking for an actor in their thirties.

Madden turns 37 next month...

The James Bond films are available to rent and buy from multiple digital outlets, and on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K.
