John Cena has regrets over the animosity between himself and Dwayne Johnson back in their WWE days.

Alongside Dave Bautista, who bid goodbye to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after nine years this month, Cena and Johnson are two of the greatest success stories when it comes to crossing over to Hollywood.

Yet during the latest episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Suicide Squid star told host Josh Horowitz that a real-life beef materialised after 'The Rock' ditched his life in the ring.

Recalling one memorable Wrestlemania clash, Cena said: "Instead of going like, 'Hey man, I'd like to try to do this thing to hook you back in and maybe we can collaborate and really make it big,' I was just like, 'Eff this, I'm calling this dude out. This is a moment. You gave me an opening. I'm going to kick the door in'.

"I understand why he got upset."

The Fast X actor went on to add: "I just got selfish and wanted a main event marquee match because it would better what I thought was the business. That was short-sighted and selfish. It worked! But it worked at the cost of two people who communicated and almost put it in jeopardy.

"There was a moment where there was a lot of bad vibes between us and rightfully so."

Thankfully, the two bruisers patched things up in the end, with Cena visiting Johnson's WWE dressing room straight after their dust-up to explain his motivations.

Vin Diesel is another man-mountain to have smelt what 'The Rock' is cooking, which you can read all about right here.
