Jurassic World: Dominion has finally wrapped, after a shoot extended by many months due to the coronavirus pandemic, and which has cost the studio millions in safeguarding measures.

Crew signalled the end of filming at Pinewood Studios, over the weekend, director Colin Trevorrow paying tribute to those who have 'worked around the clock'.

“There are a lot of emotions. I’m not sure I can put it into words,” he told Deadline. “It has been remarkable. Our crew and our cast has been so resilient. All producers have worked around the clock to make it the best it can be. It has been inspiring.”

According to reports, the crew had to isolate for months on end, not seeing their families, while staying in one large bubble at a nearby hotel.

The production also conducted a massive 40,000 coronavirus tests after the production recommenced in July, following its lockdown in March.

As well as the rigorous testing, the production also created a 'greenzone', with walk-through temperature testing stations, medical staff and isolation booths.

In addition, communal areas would be cleaned every evening using 'anti-viral fog', with between $6-8 million spent on precautions.

Of the 40,000 tests completed, just 0.25% returned positive.

Trevorrow went on: “We lived together, ate together, told stories, shared our fears and hopes, played Frisbee on the lawn… there was a lot of laughter at a time when it has been hard to find things to laugh about.

“We were all far from those we loved at a time when you want to be closest to them. I missed my family greatly. I was away from them for four months. But the cast in our bubble became another family.”

In a post to Twitter, Sam Neill, who is returning to play Dr Alan Grant, added: “There were days we thought we might not make it. But we have... we pulled off what seemed well nigh impossible. Great crew. Lovely cast. Top director. Phew.”

Since returning from lockdown, the production hit several bumps in the road too - from a two-week pause in filming back in October, due to positive coronavirus tests, and then having to heavily scale back a major shoot in Malta.

The movie will see Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard returning for movie, alongside original franchise stars Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum.

Having been delayed from an original October 2020 release, it will now land on 10 June, 2022.
