Karl Urban has revealed that he had a secret cameo role in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker — and it allowed him to fulfil a lifelong dream.

The 48-year-old star told Digital Spy he appeared alongside Kylo Ren as a Stormtrooper, delivering a single line identifying the Knights of Ren as they walk down a corridor.

Urban was listed in the “additional voices” section of the movie’s credits, but this is the first time he has revealed the nature of his cameo.

"It's been one of my life-long goals to be a Stormtrooper, so I can tick that off now," he said.

The actor said he was visiting his Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness director J.J. Abrams on the Rise of Skywalker set when his cameo arose.

He added: “While I was there, he put me in a Stormtrooper uniform and we had a really fun day on set.”

Urban is one of many high-profile cameos in The Rise of Skywalker, including Ed Sheeran, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and Abrams himself.

Famous faces have popped up as Stormtroopers throughout the sequel trilogy, including Daniel Craig, Kevin Smith and Tom Hardy.

British royals Prince William and Prince Harry filmed a role in the costumes for The Last Jedi, but were reportedly cut from the movie for being too tall.

Urban is currently promoting the upcoming second season of Amazon Prime comic book show The Boys, in which he plays group leader Billy Butcher.

Media metrics firm Nielsen said the first season attracted eight million viewers in its first 10 days on the streamer, making it one of the service’s most popular shows.
