Five of ‘Lord of the Rings’ Fellowship have reunited, with Dominic Monaghan, who played hobbit Merry, sharing a picture of the mini-reunion to social media.

Monaghan is joined by fellow hobbits Elijah Wood, who played Frodo and Billy Boyd, who played Merry’s partner in crime Pippin. Orlando Blood (Legolas) and Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn) completed the quintet.

In the main picture, the five brandish weapons (cutlery from the restaurant they’re in) with the accompanying caption: “They have a cave troll” – a quote from the first film, ‘Fellowship of the Ring’.

Another picture Monaghan shared was a selfie with Mortensen, with the caption: “My captain. My king.” Another quote from Peter Jackson’s trilogy.

Billy Boyd also got involved, quoting the original tweet and adding: “Elijah was thinking ahead and of his head… he wore a Mithril hat! Intelligent Forward thinking from the ring bearer.” Mithril is a mythical, nigh-on indestructible metal used to make the chain mail vest gifted to him by his uncle Bilbo in Rivendell.

The small-scale reunion comes shortly after ‘Fellowship of the Ring’s 15th anniversary in December. At the time, Orlando Bloom marked the milestone by sharing a series of previously-unseen behind the scenes photos from the film’s shoot at the turn of the century.

The five starred in the entire trilogy, with Bloom and Wood making appearances in the more recent ‘Hobbit’ trilogy.
