Oscars 2020: Full list of winners

Awards season came to a close on Sunday night in Los Angeles as the Oscars were held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

The biggest stars of Tinseltown and beyond assembled for a right royal knees-up as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences dished out the Academy Awards in front of a global audience.

Parasite was the big winner of the night with four Oscars, winning Best Picture, Directing, Original Screenplay, and International Film. After going into the awards as hot favourite, Sam Mendes’ 1917 won three awards for Cinematography, Visual Effects, and Sound Mixing.

Best Picture – Parasite

South Korean dark comedy Parasite continued its remarkable awards season run as it emerged victorious at the Oscars.

The film is the first non-English-language movie to win the Best Picture Oscar.

Actor In A Leading Role – Joaquin Phoenix, Joker

Joaquin Phoenix said on stage: "I'm full of so much gratitude right now, and I do not feel elevated above any of my fellow nominees or anyone in this room because we share the same love, the love of film and this form of expression has given me the most extraordinary life – I don't know what I'd be without it."

Actress In A Leading Role – Renée Zellweger, Judy

Collecting her prize, Renée Zellweger said: "When we celebrate our heroes, we're reminded of who we are as one people, united, and although Judy Garland did not receive this honour in our time, I'm certain this moment is an extension of her legacy that began on a film set.

"Miss Garland, you are certainly among the heroes who unite and define us and this is certainly for you. I'm so grateful."

Actor In A Supporting Role – Brad Pitt, Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood

Brad Pitt took home the first award of the night as he won the Oscar for an actor in a supporting role.

He dedicated his win to his children and also paid tribute to the film's director Quentin Tarantino as well as co-star Leonardo DiCaprio.

He described Tarantino as an "original" and "one of a kind", adding about DiCaprio: "I'll ride on your coat tails any day, man, the view is fantastic."

Actress In A Supporting Role – Laura Dern, Marriage Story

Collecting her prize, Dern paid tribute to her famous parents, saying: "Some say never meet your heroes but I say, if you're really blessed, you get them as your parents.

"I share this with my acting legends, Diane Ladd and Bruce Dern. You got game, I love you."

She added: "Thank you all for this gift, this is the best birthday present ever. I love you."

Directing – Parasite, Bong Joon-ho

Returning to the stage to collect the prize, director Bong Joon-ho said: "The category has a new name, from foreign language to best international feature film, I'm so happy to be the first recipient under the new name.

"I applaud and support the new direction this change symbolises."

He asked his cast and crew to stand up before adding: "I'm ready to drink tonight."

Taika Waititi won the best adapted screenplay Oscar for Jojo Rabbit.

Collecting his prize, he said: "Thank you, amazing, thank you. This is really light, it was supposed to be heavy.

"I would like to thank my mother, I don't know where you are, I lost you hours ago.

"Thank you for being my mother and for many other reasons, and for giving me the book I adapted, this film wouldn't have existed without you doing that.

"That is really great, I dedicate it to all the indigenous kids in the world who want to do art and dance, we are original storytellers and we can make it here."
