Shailene Woodley faces jail following her protest against an oil pipeline in North Dakota.

The 24-year-old star of the ‘Divergent’ movies was among 27 people arrested earlier this month, and was charged with criminal trespass and ‘engaging in a riot’ .

She was protesting with Native American group the Standing Rock Sioux against plans to run a pipeline through tribal burial grounds.

It’s said that the Dakota Access pipeline could also taint water supplies and adversely affect the ecosystem of nearby rivers.

If convicted, Woodley could go to prison for two months, along with paying fines up to $3000.

She streamed her arrest live on Facebook on October 10, and pleaded not guilty to her charges last week.

She also penned an essay about her arrest for Time magazine, hammering the appropriation of Native American culture.

“We wear their heritage, their sacred totems, as decoration and in fashion trends, failing to honor their culture,” wrote Woodley.

“Walking around the flea market this weekend, I can’t even tell you how many native references I saw being used in a way that feeds our western narrative.

“We are still throwing them in jail. We are still silencing their dedication to protect us from the planetary consequences that will catastrophically bleed from our ignorance.

“Simply feeding off the hype of a celebrity’s arrest ain’t going to save the world. But, standing together will.”
