Joe Pantoliano is recovering after being hit by a car.

The "Sopranos" actor, 68, suffered a "severe head injury" after being struck by a vehicle Friday while out for a walk in his neighborhood, Pantoliano's agent Barry McPherson confirmed to USA TODAY.

Pantoliano is now home from the hospital, McPherson added, where he's "being monitored for a concussion and chest trauma" following the collision.

Despite the injuries, Pantoliano appeared to be in good spirits in an Instagram photo, flashing a thumbs up and a smile while showing off a gruesome gash on the top of his head.

"Thank you for all the well wishes and positive vibes," the photo is captioned on Instagram. "Keep them coming! We'll reading them to him to help him get better!"

Pantoliano's wife, Nancy Sheppard, told TMZ a vehicle collided with another car and skidded into Pantoliano. He was flung back into a wooden fence from the impact, Sheppard added.

Ahead of the incident Friday, Pantoliano posted an Instagram video of a rainbow over a green lawn while enjoying a walk on the road.

Pantoliano is best known for his Emmy award-winning portrayal of Ralph Cifaretto in HBO's "The Sopranos." His other acting credits include "Risky Business," "The Matrix" and the "Bad Boys" films.
