It’s official – we’re seeing how Han got the Millennium Falcon.

Han Solo’s upcoming ‘Star Wars’ spin-off has been the source of plenty of speculation. What’s it going to include? How is it really going to work? Do we need to see any of this in the first place?

Well, at least now we’ve got more of an idea about what it’s going to be about, now that Disney CEO Bob Iger has spilled the beans on some minor details of the Han Solo movie.

Speaking at the USC tech conference on Thursday, he dropped some minor hints about what to expect in Han Solo’s solo movie. And it sounds like we’re getting to see some major parts of his backstory.

“Iger revealed that the next [Star Wars] film, a standalone project on Han Solo, will follow [Han’s] life from the age of 18 through 24,” says Variety. “The film will include ‘acquiring a certain vehicle and meeting a certain Wookie,’ he said. ‘You’ll also discover how he got his name’.”

How he got his name?

Now, forgive me if I’m wrong, but that sounds as though Han Solo wasn’t always called ‘Han Solo’. And we’ll be finding out exactly how he got this futuristic-sounding moniker in the upcoming movie.

So what the hell was he originally called?

It’s an interesting tidbit, and without further context it’s unclear exactly how this is going to pan out. Was ‘Solo’ an adopted name? Could it even be a nickname he earned at some point during his smuggling days?

It’s intriguing stuff, but for now we have to wait and see.

On the subject of ‘Star Wars’, he also confirmed a few things regarding ‘Episode 8’. Specifically, it looks as though they won’t be reshooting any of Carrie Fisher’s scenes or altering General Leia’s story following the actress’s untimely death.

“We are not changing ‘8’ to deal with her passing. Her performance remains as it was in ‘8’,” he said. “In ‘Rogue One’, we created digitally a few characters… We’re not doing that with Carrie.”

The untitled ‘Han Solo’ movie stars Alden Ehrenreich as the infamous smuggler, alongside Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke and Michael K Williams.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will direct, based on a script by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan.

The untitled ‘Han Solo’ movie heads to cinemas on 25 May 2018.
