Is this the last we've seen of Ted Lasso?
Ahead of Ted Lasso’s season three finale on Wednesday, 31 May, star Jason Sudeikis has fuelled rumours of potential spin-offs and future episodes of his feelgood footy show, saying they’ve “set the table” nicely for a host of different outcomes.
Co-created by Scrubs mastermind Bill Lawrence and loosely inspired by a character Sudeikis first debuted during NBC sports coverage back in 2013, the series follows the eponymous coach as he’s transported from the world of American college football to British Premier League soccer.

However, as its third and reportedly final series comes to a close on Apple TV+, star Sudeikis has shared his thoughts on the future of not only his character but possible further adventures with other familiar faces from the show.
Will there be a Ted Lasso season 4?
“I mean, there’s always Cameo, right?” joked the former Saturday Night Live cast member while speaking to Deadline and making reference to the popular app that lets you request personalised video messages from your favourite actors and pop-culture characters.
“This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell. The fact that folks will want more and are curious beyond more than what they don’t even know yet — that being Season 3 — it’s flattering.
“Maybe by May 31, once all 12 episodes of the season [have been released], they’re like, ‘Man, you know what, we get it, we’re fine We don’t need anymore, we got it,’” he added, “but until that time comes, I will appreciate the curiosity beyond what we’ve come up with so far.”

Meanwhile, Sudeikis' co-stars — like Brett Goldstein’s hot-headed former player Roy Kent, Juno Temple’s model-turned-PR-pro Keeley Jones and Nick Mohammed’s unassuming Nathan Shelley — have each become fan-favourites in their own right. As such, the Ted Lasso actor appears unwilling to rule out the idea of future spin-off series.
"I think that we’ve set the table for all sorts of folks…to get to watch the further telling of these stories,” he told the outlet while keeping things intriguingly vague.
“Again, I can’t help but take the question as flattery for what all of us that were working on the show has tried to do. It’s really kind of folks to even consider that because you never know what’s gonna happen when you make things. The fact that people want more, even if it’s a different avenue is lovely.”
Released during the height of the pandemic in 2020, Ted Lasso became a quick hit welcomed by viewers from both America and the UK largely thanks to its heartwarming storylines and Lasso’s perpetually upbeat attitude.
Its word-of-mouth success was solidified following a successful stint at the 2021 Emmy Awards where the show walked away with a host of gongs, including outstanding comedy series, best supporting actress for star Hannah Waddingham and best actor for Sudeikis — a prize he won again in 2022.
The show’s second series concluded in October 2021, leaving fans with a tense cliffhanger that teased a potential coach-clash between Lasso and a supposed friend-turned-enemy.
