The Thursday Murder Club movie already has some Hollywood heavyweights in its cast, and another A-lister visited the set last week.

Steven Spielberg, who is producing the movie through his company Amblin Entertainment, dropped in on filming last Tuesday (August 13). It's an experience that Richard Osman called "amazing" on the latest episode of The Rest is Entertainment podcast.

"Firstly, he just had that incredible presence. There's certain people you meet where you go, 'Oh my god, you're Steven Spielberg'. It was so lovely seeing even the other actors were excited to be around him," Osman recalled.

"I won't say what anyone said, but Sir Ben Kingsley was talking to him about Schindler's List and their experience in such a beautiful way and he clearly loved Steven Spielberg. It was so gorgeous. Paul Freeman who was in Raiders of the Lost Ark, they were talking about that."

Osman continued by saying that they happened to be filming a big scene with a lot of extras that day, and that Spielberg "could not have been nicer".

"People spotted me and then suddenly there's Spielberg, who weirdly was hidden behind me, and everyone, all the actors, was so excited to see him," he explained.

"His relationship with [writer/director] Christopher Colombus is so lovely, they adore each other. It was honestly a dream and he was delightful. It was a beautiful sunny day and he was everything that you'd want him to be."

Before Spielberg left set, Osman was able to say something personal to the Hollywood legend, preferring to keep it simple.

"I was able to say right at the end, 'Thank you for everything you do and the joy that you've brought the world'. I left it at that. I never need to say another way because I just said thank you," he revealed.

"If you think about how he has entertained us, the joy he's brought, the stories he's told us, the tears we've shed because of him, it's nice to be able to stand there, shake his hand and say thank you, so that was nice."

The Thursday Murder Club movie has been filming since June in the UK ahead of its release on Netflix.

We still don't have a confirmed release date, but if production wraps up as expected in September, hopefully we don't have too much longer to wait to find out when we'll get to watch the movie.

The Thursday Murder Club does not yet have a confirmed release date.
