Yahoo Movies Tim Allen compares Hollywood liberals to the nazis
Tim Allen – a long-time republican in a predominantly democratic business – has complained that he’s not allowed to voice his own political opinions for fear of reprisals.
He even went as far as comparing the roundly liberal environment of Hollywood to Germany in the 1930s, when Hitler rose to power.
Asked by Jimmy Kimmel whether he went to the inauguration of Donald Trump, he danced around the subject first before admitting: “Yeah, I went to the inauguration.”
He then added: “You’ve got to be real careful around here.
“You get beat up if don’t believe what everybody believes. This is like 30s Germany.
“I don’t know what happened. If you’re not part of the group, ‘You know what we believe is right,’ I go, ‘Well, I might have a problem with that.’
“What I find odd in Hollywood is that they didn’t like Trump because he was a bully. But if you had any kind of inkling that you were for Trump, you got bullied for doing that. And it gets a little bit hypocritical to me.
“You get bullied into a position, but I don’t want to defend the guy.
Describing the divisive president, the voice of Buzz Lightyear added: “To me, he acts like a new talent comedian.
“These are guys that have great material that have very bad comedy timing. And he’s got terrible timing.”
Some found his remarks offensive, notably the Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect in the US.
“Tim, have you lost your mind?” said spokesman Steven Goldstein.
“No one in Hollywood today is subjecting you or anyone else to what the Nazis imposed on Jews in the 1930s – the world’s most evil program of dehumanization, imprisonment and mass brutality, implemented by an entire national government, as the prelude for the genocide of nearly an entire people.
“Sorry, Tim, that’s just not the same as getting turned down for a movie role. It’s time for you to leave your bubble to apologize to the Jewish people and, to be sure, the other peoples also targeted by the Nazis.”
