With James Bond filmmaker Barbara Broccoli and Whoopi Goldberg among its producers, you know its going to be a worthwhile movie, and this biographical tale tells the important story of Mamie Till-Bradley, an activist whose son Emmett was infamously murdered by racists in 1955.

The film won many awards late last year, but was sadly overlooked by the Oscars. Don’t make the same mistake: Danielle Deadwyler is nothing short of phenomenal as the crusading mother.

The life story of French courtier Joseph Bologne, known as Chevalier de Saint-Georges, has been reclaimed from history in this new biopic starring Kelvin Harrison Jr in the title role.

Bologne was a musical prodigy who rose to fame in the 1700s, and is considered the first classical composer of African descent to receive widespread acclaim. The film shows how he battled prejudice ahead of the French revolution, and after hitting cinemas without much fanfare earlier this year, it deserves more attention at home.

Following in the footsteps of Air, Blackberry, Flaming Hot and Tetris, The Beanie Bubble is the latest corporate biopic to tackle the story of a beloved brand - this time: Ty’s Beanie Babies. The ubiquitous stuffed toys were everywhere in the 1990s, until the bubble burst. Based on the 2015 book The Great Beanie Baby Bubble: Mass Delusion and the Dark Side of Cute by Zac Bissonnette, and produced by Ron Howard, it's sure to be a hit with nostalgic millennials.

The film, an Apple TV+ original, stars Zach Galifianakis as Ty Warner in a cast that also includes Elizabeth Banks and Succession star Sarah Snook.
