Muppets Now, The Muppets Studio’s first original series for Disney+, will debut on the streaming service globally on 31 July.

The six-part series, believed to be comprised of 10-minute episodes, will see the Muppets taking part in different segments of a new TV show. The unscripted and improvised show has been directed by Muppets veteran Kirk Thatcher.

Thatcher directed 2002’s TV movie It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, and wrote the screenplay for 1996’s Muppet Treasure Island.

The news was announced via a funny Twitter thread that saw key members of the cast sharing their own posters for the new show.

Here’s the synopsis: In the six-episode season, Scooter rushes to make his delivery deadlines and upload the brand-new Muppet series for streaming. They are due now, and he’ll need to navigate whatever obstacles, distractions, and complications the rest of the Muppet gang throws at him.

Overflowing with spontaneous lunacy, surprising guest stars and more frogs, pigs, bears (and whatevers) than legally allowed, the Muppets cut loose in “Muppets Now” with the kind of startling silliness and heartfelt fun that first made them famous.

Muppets Now comes to Disney+ on 31 July.
