Nantucket Film Festival to Launch 2014 Lineup with ‘The Skeleton Twins’

The 19th annual Nantucket Film Festival has announced its 2014 lineup, kicking off with opener “The Skeleton Twins,” a dark comedy about estranged siblings starring Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader.

Sci-fi romance/mystery “I Origins,” which stars Brit Marling and Michael Pitt, will be the centerpiece film, while Richard Linklater’s highly anticipated coming-of-age film, “Boyhood,” will close out this year’s festival.

Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Steve James will be honored with the Special Achievement in Documentary Storytelling Award. James will debut his latest film, Roger Ebert bio “Life Itself,” at the fest. Mike Cahill, the writer/director of “I Origins,” will receive the New Voices in Screenwriting Award.

As previously announced, Aaron Sorkin was named this year’s Screenwriter Tribute recipient.

The NFF also will present a collection of Disney/Pixar short films on its opening day, including “For the Birds,” “Boundin’” and “Presto.”

Full lineup of around 45 films includes “Goodbye to All That,” “An Honest Liar” and “Gabriel,” all three of which premiere at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival ahead of their Nantucket screenings.

The 2014 Nantucket Film Festival runs June 25-30.
