Naomie Harris Defends ‘Sarcastic’ Daniel Craig’s Bond Bashing

Incumbent James Bond actor has left both his fans and his producers feeling both shaken and stirred (sorry) with his recent proclamation that he would prefer to slit his wrists than make another Bond movie.

However, Miss Moneypenny actress Naomie Harris has spoken out in defence of her co-star, insisting he was “just being sarcastic.”

Harris tells BBC News that Craig’s “sense of humour… doesn’t come across particularly well in print.

“It’s easy to take something that someone says in passing and blow it completely out of proportion. I think that’s what’s happened here, so I don’t really believe those comments at all.“

Craig is understood to have given the offending interview to Time Out London within days of wrapping production on ‘SPECTRE,’ and given the actor spends much of the interview emphasising how exhausting the films are to make, it’s perhaps unsurprising that he wouldn’t wnat to to contemplate getting back to work anytime soon.

Harris goes on to declare Craig “the ultimate Bond,” insisting he “lives and breathes” the part and that "it wouldn’t be Bond without him”.

‘SPECTRE’ opens in UK cinemas on 26 October.
