Narcos: Mexico has confirmed that Diego Luna is set to return to the series as the second season finally receives its official premiere date.
Netflix has announced that the hit drug crime show's second outing will be released on February 13, 2020 – the perfect way to cosy up with your other half ahead of Valentine's Day.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Luna will be reprising his role as the Mexican drug lord Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo – the person who formed the Guadalajara Cartel in the '80s.
Netflix has also confirmed the debut of a new DEA agent character who'll be played by actor Scoot McNairy. He is described as "a hardened DEA agent whose methods aren't always by the book".
The second season of Narcos: Mexico (or the fifth one in the Narcos universe) will be "chronicling the missteps, ill-conceived agendas, and corruption on both sides of the border that have led to a dangerous present in the failed war on drugs".
The narrative will be set in the mid-1980s "as Félix Gallardo's super cartel splinters under its own dark weight and social and political shifts within Mexico prompt its desperate government's most brazen corruption".
The synopsis adds: "Meanwhile, the American effort to exact revenge for Kiki Camarena's [Ant-Man & The Wasp's Michael Peña] execution leads them further away from any hope for justice. The cycle of violence rages on."
Netflix hasn't released an official trailer yet, but it did make sure to tease us with a short clip, featuring Luna:
