Yahoo Movies Netflix thriller Ozark to conclude with extended final season
Ozark will end after its fourth series, Netflix has confirmed.
The hugely popular series follows Marty (played by Jason Bateman) and Wendy (Laura Linney) as they move to the Ozarks in order to do some work for a Mexican drug cartel – before becoming increasingly entangled in the district’s crime hierarchy.
Announcing news of the upcoming season on Twitter, the streaming platform added the Ozark season finale will come with a twist.
“Ozark will return for a fourth and final season,” the Netflix Twitter account stated, “split across two parts – each of seven episodes.”

Famed for its murky and washed-out cinematic style, and its gritty, heavy-hitting subject manner, Ozark has received universal critical acclaim from fans and critics alike.
Its third series saw Marty and Wendy take on lawyer Helen Pierce (Janet McTeer) in a game of cat and mouse before she is killed by the cartel boss, Omar Navarro (Felix Solis) – only further reinforcing the narrative that the family are now deeply entwined in the criminal underworld.
Ozark showrunner Chris Mundy has previously teased he has laid breadcrumbs out for viewers as the show builds to what will likely be a climactic ending.
“We’re building little things in,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “If we keep on track for the emotional ending we’re guessing we’ll have.”
He has also teased the final season may show the Byrne family facing the wrath of karma for all their previous dirty dealings: we could see how Ruth’s (Julie Garner) decision to cut ties with the Byrne’s may have worked out for her, or we may observe how Wendy is coping with her decision to let her brother Ben (Tom Pelphrey) die.
Mundy added: “I think it will be about if the Byrdes can they turn the biggest mistake of their lives into this huge advantage, and how much will karma catch up with them if they do?”
