New Hobbit film name revealed?

Web domains registered recently give away possible names for third Hobbit flick

A handful of recently registered website domain names have caught the attention of 'Lord of the Rings' fans, giving a list of possible titles for the final Hobbit film.

Director Peter Jackson confirmed yesterday that there will be a third film in the new series, after rumours emerged that he was in high-level talks with Warner Bros about extending two films into three.

Now after a series of website names were bagged, the rumours about what the films might possibly be called have begun to circulate.

Two possibilities have now emerged, the first being 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' and the second being 'The Hobbit: Riddles in the Dark'.

The first title refers to a piece of land featured in the book where the Battle of the Five Armies takes place, reigned over by the dragon Smaug.

The second title refers to a chapter name in Tolkien's original text.

Rumours also abound that the final installment will be based on both the final 125 pages of appendices published in Tolkien's 'Return of the King' and a previously unpublished and more detailed version of 'The Hobbit'.

The first part of the film 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' will be released in December, while the second, 'The Hobbit: There and Back Again' the following year.
