The latest trailer for It Chapter 2 has arrived, and it reveals fresh plot points for the sequel to the 2017 scarefest.
Where the first trailer preferred to focus on elderly lady flesh, this new look at the film gives audience members who haven’t bothered to read Stephen King’s book solid information about what the film will actually be about.
It Chapter 2 is set 27 years after the events of the first movie, and the adult versions of the kids we followed last time around have forgotten all about the multitude of insanely disturbing things that happened to them in the first instalment.
"Something happens to you when you leave this town," Mike (Isaiah Mustafa) says. As he didn't leave, he remembers everything, and he reveals that Pennywise wasn’t defeated during their epic confrontation.
Looks like Bill (James McAvoy), Beverly (Jessica Chastain), Richie (Bill Hader), Ben (Jay Ryan) and Eddie (James Ransone) are going to have to summon all of their courage to defeat Pennywise the iconic blood-hungry clown.
Cut to a whole bunch of disturbing imagery, including the super-creepy return of Georgie. “You lied, and I died.” Yikes!
Then there’s that final shot, which might be the most skin-crawling moment of them all.
And if the trailer isn’t enough to get you excited, star Bill Hader has seen footage from the film and describes it as horror’s Lord Of The Rings. Seriously.
“[Director] Andy Muschetti played me scenes, and just the scope of it is so big,” Hader said. “It’s bigger than the first one. It’s an epic horror film. It feels like ‘Lord of the Rings’ or something — just, ‘Whoa! This is cool!'”
The sequel will float into cinemas on September 6, 2019, almost two years to the day of the first film’s release. Let’s hope it’s as successful - with the first movie taking home an astonishing $700 million at the box office.
