As the new year begins, Prime Video UK is unleashing some of its big guns. Al Pacino is back in the lead role of drama series Hunters — despite his fate in the first season — and there's some morally murky Nazi-hunting revenge being dished out once again.

On the movie front, the headline offering is Jennifer Lopez showing she can be an action hero while wearing a big, white dress in Shotgun Wedding. Elsewhere, the likes of Mortal Kombat and Judas and the Black Messiah are heading to streaming.

New TV shows coming to Prime Video UK in January 2023

The Rig (all episodes from 6 January)

A collection of great British actors — including Iain Glen and Line of Duty's Martin Compston — anchors this mystery thriller series, set on an oil rig miles out in the North Sea. Things start to go wrong when a fog cuts off their contact with the mainland, leaving them stranded in their hostile working environment, only for the situation to worsen when a horrifying accident takes place.

Hunters S2 (all episodes from 13 January)

Al Pacino returns for the second and final season of this drama series, which focuses on a group of Nazi hunters in the 1970s. Pacino's character will figure as part of a dual-timeline story, given his death at the end of season one, while the show will also reckon with the rather huge plot twists of the first season's finale. It's fair to say there were some big swings, which stop this from being just another historical show.

The Test S2 (13 January)

Streaming services have really grown to love fly-on-the-wall sports documentaries and this one, returning for its second season, follows the Australian men's test cricket team. It focuses on the 2021/22 test season, including a clash with England and the end of a 20-year spell in which they never travelled to play Pakistan on their soil.
