New 'Robin Hood' trailer sets up Taron Egerton's outlaw as 'the chosen one'

A new Robin Hood trailer has arrived online and it really plays up the outlaw as some sort of chosen one to lead the fight against the One Percent.

Jamie Foxx provides the voiceover as Little John, the leader of the Merry Men, though it’s taken from a scene where he’s talking to Taron Egerton’s Robin.

“I’ve never seen anything like you,” John says. “You stare death in the face, that’s why I chose you.”

This latest adaptation of the classic tale is directed by Otto Bathurst, written by Ben Chandler and David James Kelly, and produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, with Jamie Dornan playing Will Scarlet, Eve Hewson as Maid Marion and Ben Mendelsohn as the Sheriff of Nottingham.

The film seems to be a futuristic medieval retelling of Robin Hood because the filmmakers have clearly taken a lot of creative licence, especially with the costumes that look more couture than historically accurate.

There’s also a change in the original narrative with Maid Marian being married to Will Scarlet, Robin’s half-brother. Nothing like a familial love triangle to amp up the drama.
