New Species Of Frog Looks Just Like Kermit
There’s a new species of frog in town… and darn it, if it doesn’t look just like Kermit.
Well, by ‘in town’ we mean 'in Costa Rica’, but nevertheless, the Hyalinobatrachium dianae has a stunning likeness to his Muppet brother.

The frog was discovered by the founder of the Costa Rican Amphibian Research Centre, Brian Kubicki, in the southern Talamanca mountains.
The centre says that the first time that a new species of 'glass frog’ has been unearthed since 1973.
“Costa Rica is known to have 14 glass frogs inhabiting its tiny national territory,” it said on its Facebook page.
Of course, it was on Twitter that the news was consumed with utter delight, less for the discovery perhaps than the likeness.

Glass frogs are so-called because their skin is so translucent, you can see their organs.
Mr Kubicki said that the discovery of the new frog was 'a good indicator of the general health of the eco-system’.
