New Toy Story short film revealed

'Partysaurus Rex' will throw new light onto our favourite mild-mannered tyrannosaurus

Pixar is to release a new 'Toy Story' short.

'Partysaurus Rex' is to star the series' lovable tyrannosaurus, voiced by Wallace Shawn, and will be show before the newly 3D-ed version of 'Finding Nemo' when it's released in cinemas.

In it, the action finds Rex and fellow toys stranded after a solid playtime bath with new owner Bonnie.

Rex then hatches a plan to re-start the party.

“If you’re a bath toy you get really intense playtime. It’s like a party,” said director Mark Walsh, who has worked on on 'Finding Nemo', 'The Incredibles', and 'Ratatouille'. “Then when the water goes down you can’t move. You’re helpless. And that’s pathetic, these guys in bottom of the tub all the time.

“What I was going for was, you move to a new town and make new friends, and suddenly you think you have this chance where you can reinvent yourself. I love that Rex, in his sweetness, thinks he can reinvent who he is in the image of a party animal.”

There are also nods to the other Pixar flicks, particularly if you have a close look at the toilet seat.

It's the latest in the 'Toy Story Toons' series, following 'Hawaiian Vacation' and 'Small Fry', the former preceding screenings of 'Cars 2' and the latter linked to the recent Jason Segal reboot of 'The Muppets'.

But sadly 'Partysaurus Rex' won't be shown in the UK until mid-2013.
