Myles Garrett ruled out for Week 12 vs. Jaguars while still on COVID-19 list

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, who was put on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, will not play in Week 12 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday.

Garrett did not play in the 22-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles while he remained on the reserve/COVID-19 list. The list is for players who tested positive for COVID-19 or who were in close contact with someone who tested positive. Garrett remains on the list as of Monday.

“We’re ruling him out because that’s what the protocol calls for,” Stefanski said, via Mary Kay Cabot at Cleveland.com.

Garrett, 24, is tied for the league lead in sacks with 9.5. He took to Twitter after Cleveland’s win to share his pride in the defensive line while he was out. The Browns sacked Carson Wentz five times, picked him off twice and forced two team fumbles.

The Browns (7-3) are fighting for an AFC playoff spot while contending with the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers (10-0) and the Baltimore Ravens (6-4) in their own division.
