Zach Hyman took full comedic advantage of an empty Scotiabank Arena in his return to Toronto on Wednesday.

Hyman was rewarded with a tribute video from the Maple Leafs in his first game back in Ontario's capital since signing with the Edmonton Oilers in the offseason. With no fans in attendance to cheer him on, Hyman decided to have some fun with the moment and give a nice salute to the seat covers.

At least the tribute itself was nice.

With the new Ontario regulations that venues cannot hold more than 1,000 people, the Leafs announced on Dec. 30, that they will be playing in an empty arena for the foreseeable future. Numerous games in Canadian cities have been postponed altogether, leading us to miss out on these types of laughable moments.

Hyman started his professional career in Toronto, making his AHL and NHL debuts during the 2015-16 season. From there, he proceeded to appear in 345 games for the Maple Leafs over six seasons, scoring 86 goals and earning 185 points.

The 29-year-old forward signed with Edmonton as a free agent last summer and has scored 11 goals and 20 points through 31 games for his new team.
