Let’s face it: we were all hoping 2021 would come to a swift end, but for Chicago Blackhawks defensemen Connor Murphy and Caleb Jones, the year closed out in an awful way.

Murphy and Jones’ cars were stolen when they went out to dinner on December 29, according to TMZ Sports.

Chicago's game against the Winnipeg Jets that night was postponed, and Jones and Murphy went to a restaurant within blocks of the United Center. TMZ obtained security footage of a man subtly breaking into a black luxury vehicle after putting pressure on another man — assumed to be the valet — then he backed out and drove away.

Murphy’s car was a 2017 Porsche Panamera, which is assumed to be the car stolen in the video, while Jones’ vehicle was a 2021 Jeep Trackhawk.

Neither of the players, nor the Blackhawks, have publicly commented on the story at the time of this filing.

On the ice, Jones has scored one goal to go along with two assists through 12 games with Chicago this season. He was acquired from the Edmonton Oilers in July in the deal that sent Duncan Keith north of the border. Murphy has appeared in 30 contests in 2021-22, netting two goals and two assists.
